OMEGA casts a light on Buzz Aldrin for the moonlanding anniversary

On the anniversary of history’s first moon landing, Buzz Aldrin has spent time with OMEGA, reflecting on the hours, and the watch, that made history on July 21st, 1969. The astronaut was the Lunar Module Pilot of Apollo 11 when it touched down on the Sea of Tranquillity exactly 53 years ago. His first steps were a remarkable achievement for humanity – and also for the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional on his wrist – which in that moment, became the first watch worn on the moon. As well as recalling images of that famous day, OMEGA also captured a new portrait of Buzz Aldrin wearing the Speedmaster 321 (Ref. 311.30.40.30.01.001) – which houses the legendary calibre that powered every Speedmaster ever worn on the moon. From Apollo 11 right through to Apollo 17, the Calibre 321 was depended on by astronauts for its accuracy and reliability.

Bell & Ross presents BR 05 Artline

Created in 2019, the BR 05 is a derivative of the BR 03, Bell & Ross’ watchmaking icon. It uses its general shape, the famous round within the square, inspired by a cockpit instrument. This successful watch forsakes pilots and tarmacs a little to move closer to a more urban universe. The new BR 05 Artline is a variation of the BR 05. It adopts its general shape and in particular its integrated bracelet. It is called Artline, a term that sums up its concept well. “This name indicates that it incorporates an artistic dimension (art) in its design (line). When you look at it, you immediately think of the American style of the Stream-Line”, explains Bruno Belamich, co-founder of Bell & Ross. It is a trend in industrial design from the 1930s, with very fluid lines inspired by speed and aerodynamics.

De Bethune launches DB25 Starry Varius Aérolite

Created from a meteorite, the DB25 Starry Varius Aérolite becomes the witness to this chaotically orchestrated force. De Bethune has enriched its dial with a starry sky emblematic of this timeless material. Inspired by the classic round shape, the ultra-light polished titanium case of the DB25 Starry Varius Aérolite with its perfectly integrated openworked lugs nevertheless asserts De Bethune's contemporary expression of the art of watchmaking. Taking up the graphic codes of the Manufacture, the new reference features a Roman numeral hour circle and an Arabic numeral minute track on a silvered disc, complemented by hand-polished steel hands identical to those already featured on the dial of the DB25 Starry Varius. The DB25 Starry Varius Aérolite will be limited to a production of five pieces per year.

The Patravi ScubaTec Maldives by Carl F. Bucherer

The Patravi ScubaTec Maldives dive watch celebrates Carl F. Bucherer’s long-standing partnership with the Manta Trust. The newest member of the Patravi ScubaTec family, the Maldives watch, was created to raise awareness of the Manta Trust and its remarkable commitment to preserving endangered manta rays and the ecosystems and habitat they need to survive. The Patravi ScubaTec Maldives proclaims its dive watch credentials at first glance. It has a striking 44.6 mm stainless-steel case and a unidirectional rotating stainless-steel bezel with blue and white ceramic inlays. A bold 60-minute scale with luminous markings makes it easy to calculate elapsed time underwater – a real benefit for serious divers. The bright blue dial with lacquered wave decoration is as eye-catching on land as it is in the water.
