Dubai hosts 15.8million visitors in 2017.
A record-breaking number of international travellers flew into Dubai in 2017, further cementing the city’s position as one of the leading tourist capitals in the world, a new report showed.
According to the latest data published by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), Dubai is nearing its 2020 tourism target as it welcomed a total of 15.79 million visitors last year, up by 6.2 per cent over a year earlier.
South Asia emerged as the number one source of tourists for Dubai, with hordes of Indian visitors, amounting to 2.1 million, arriving in the emirate last year, up by 15 per cent from 12 months earlier. Saudi Arabia was the second-largest contributor of tourists to Dubai at 1.53 million. The United Kingdom was the third-largest source of tourists, delivering 1.27 million travellers – up by 2 per cent over 2016.

UAE’s non-oil foreign trade reaches Dh1.17trillion.
The value of the UAE’s non-oil foreign trade in the first nine months of 2017 reached Dh1.17 trillion, staying almost flat from the Dh1.16 trillion registered in the same period in 2016. According to data from the UAE’s Federal Customs Authority (FCA), imports to the UAE amounted to Dh708.2 billion in the first nine months of the year, with gold accounting for the most imports. Meanwhile, non-oil exports from the UAE reached Dh139.1 billion in the first nine months of 2017, with gold also being the top exported product. Gold exports amounted to Dh41.2 billion, representing 30 per cent of the country’s total non-oil exports.

Dubai International Airport handles 88.2million passengers in 2017.
Dubai International Airport is the busiest international airport measured by total passengers for the fourth consecutive year, as it welcomed six new carriers in 2017.
Dubai International served 88.2 million passengers last year, an increase of 5.5 per cent from 2016, Dubai Airports said in a statement. Traffic in 2018 is forecast to grow 2.4 per cent to 90.3 million.
Dubai International has benefited from the expansion of routes from Emirates, the world’s largest operator of wide-body aircraft, and its sister company fly Dubai.

Christie’s leads Global Art Market 2017 sales total £5.1 Billion ($6.6 Billion)
Christie’s announces total global sales increased 26% in 2017 to £5.1 billion ($6.6 billion, up 21%), led by the record breaking sale of Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi, selling for $450.3 million (£342.2 million) in November in New York. Increased supply at masterpiece level met continued demand as global auction sales increased 38% to £4.6 billion ($5.9 billion, up 33%).
