An early preview of the SIHH 2019.

The next Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) at Palexpo, Geneva, will take place January 14-17, 2019. Setting the tone for the twelve months to come, it adopts a four-day schedule instead of the usual five with the convenience of longer opening hours, every day from 8.30am to 8pm.

Confirming SIHH's place in Geneva, and continuing an immensely popular initiative from the previous two years, doors will open to the public on the Thursday, with a special late-night opening until 10pm for easy access, particularly for after-work visitors. On Sunday afternoon, the day before the official opening, the exhibiting brands will have the opportunity to invite selected customers to a preview of their new collections.

SIHH 2019 presents a stable line-up of 35 exhibitors, with 18 historic Maisons and 17 independents in the Carré des Horlogers. The Maison of Bovet will participate at this year’s event for the first time ever.

Ulysse Nardin will now be available exclusively from Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. The newly forged relationship is a testament to Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons’ position as the go to purveyor of luxury timepieces in the region and will see Ulysse Nardin’s iconic timepieces available in boutiques at prime locations across the UAE including The Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates and Atlantis.

Audemars Piguet presents a conversation on Conceptualisation and Construction of Museums

Audemars Piguet presented a dynamic conversation between Danish architect Bjarke Ingels and Hans Ulrich Obrist, noted curator and artistic director of the Serpentine Galleries in London, during the Venice Architecture Biennale vernissage week. The talk, which focused on the Conceptualisation and Construction of Museums, took place at the historic Bauer Hotel along the Grand Canal and was followed by a cocktail event. The conversation moderated by Michael Friedman, Audemars Piguet’s in house historian, offered a rare glimpse into the long-standing friendship and clear collaborative spirit between Ingels and Obrist.

TAG Heuer from Monaco to the 24 Hours of Le Mans!

TAG Heuer welcomed brand ambassador Patrick Dempsey to Monaco for an unusual training session. The actor, who’s also a driver and owner of the Dempsey Racing team who are due to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. They travelled to the Var track in Le Luc in a viper green Porsche 911 RS from the private car collection of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, for whom TAG Heuer has been appointed Official Watchmaker. To celebrate this anniversary, TAG Heuer has released a special limited edition of the Monaco Gulf, of which just 50 have been produced. The watch, with its famous 39 mm square casing and blue dial, features the iconic Gulf colours: light blue and orange. 

 

Daniel Lee appointed Creative Director of Bottega Veneta

Bottega Veneta announces the appointment of Daniel Lee as its Creative Director starting July 1, 2018. An experienced designer, Daniel Lee was most recently Director of Ready-to-Wear Design at Céline. British nationality Daniel Lee is a graduate of the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. 

 

World Diamond Council demonstrates commitment to ongoing positive change at 2018 KP Intersessional Meeting

The World Diamond Council, an industry group focused on preventing conflict diamonds from entering the legitimate global supply chain and protecting the value of natural diamonds, reaffirmed its commitment to driving ongoing positive change through reform at the 2018 KP Intersessional meeting held in Antwerp, Belgium June 18-22. Individual members of the WDC currently serve on a range of KP working groups that include Monitoring, CAR Monitoring Team, Statistics, Rules and Procedures, Participation and Chairmanship, Alluvial and Artisanal Production and Diamond Experts.

Ulysse Nardin has crafted the exceptionally unique Classic Tourbillon Falcon in a limited edition of eight timepieces, which will be available over Eid. The new Classic Tourbillon Falcon is adorned with a dial displaying a faithful reproduction of a falconry scene in the desert at sunrise. On the right, a man can be seen in a white dishdasha, the traditional Emirati clothing for men. On the left is a peregrine falcon, the national emblem of the United Arab Emirates. An original concept created by Dubai Watch Week, the Horology Forum is designed to foster free flowing conversation covering a broad spectrum of industry topics. It is the first edition of its kind in partnership with Christie’s and is expected to attract a growing number of visitors from the global watch community as it gains international momentum.
