Excerpts from the interview with Michael Hakimian, CEO of Yoko London and Founder of Haute Jewels Geneva

• The objective of this B2B show is to establish an event created by jewellers for jewellers.
• 16 leading jewellery brands will return to Haute Jewels Geneva this March.

The first Haute Jewels Geneva show took place in 2019, what was the objective of the show and how do you assess its success?

Back in 2019 I saw a gap in the market for an intimate jewellery show with likeminded brands, to take place during the spring in Geneva. The objective of the show was to remove some of the formality and red tape associated with jewellery trade shows and create an event created by jewellers for jewellers. We had longer opening hours to allow flexibility in terms of when clients wanted to visit participating brands. The objective of the show was to bring the retailer and supplier together to do business in a relaxed and informal environment.

The show returns this year with more exhibitors (16 Vs 4 before) and a new venue. How do you intend to promote this year’s event? Is the show B2B or B2C or both?

The venue is the same, simply the name of the hotel has changed, and yes we are delighted to be bringing Haute Jewels Geneva back this year with sixteen brands participating. We are taking a multi-pronged approach to marketing this year’s event – partnering with jewellery influencers and press to promote the show worldwide. We have a dedicated Haute Jewels Geneva Instagram page (@hautejewelsgeneva) where we are sharing novelties and exciting content from each of our participating brands, as well as a new Haute Jewels Geneva website where you can find all the details about the show. The show is B2B – and with so many spectacular brands participating we hope to see a nice mix of clients attending from all over the globe.

Any new novelties to be revealed at this year’s show? Can you please shed the lights on the new collection/s?

Each of the sixteen brands participating will be presenting their novelties at the show, each offering something unique but are likeminded in their approach to jewellery creation. They are seen as artisans in their own field, combining high quality materials with superior design to create spectacular haute jewels.

Will the show become a yearly event to run in parallel to the Watch & Wonders show in Geneva? Or you intend to incorporate it with W&W should you offered an exhibiting space?

Our plan is for Haute Jewels Geneva to become a yearly event. It was initially due to return in 2020, but we had to postpone for two years because of the pandemic. We are absolutely thrilled to be able to bring the event back in person this year, and believe that the innovative and intimate format, appeals even more following the restrictions of the pandemic.

Do you have any plans to take the show to other cities around the world?- A suggested roadshow?

This is something that we have considered – watch this space!

Important Info on the show:

Haute Jewels Geneva will take place at the Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva:
30th March: 11am – 7pm
31st March – 4th April: 9am – 7pm
