Once Upon a Time.... Fairy tale gala for the enchanting world of Watches and Jewellery.

Winners of the prestigious Middle East Watch and Jewellery of the Year Awards were announced on 15th November, during a private gala event held at the Music Hall in Dubai at the amazing Jumeirah Zabeel Saray Hotel, on the iconic Palm Jumeirah Island. The awards, now in their 14th year, are designed to recognise watchmaking and jewellery craftsmanship excellence; winners are judged by an independent group of regional watch connoisseurs and Jewellery professionals, and collectors.
 
The exclusive gala and awards - sponsored by AW Rostamani, Infinity of Arabian Automobiles and Morgan Lewis law firm was attended by over 300 of the region’s most prominent watch and jewellery companies, collectors, retailers and industry leaders. Guests enjoyed a red carpet cocktail reception followed by a sumptuous dinner served during the ceremony, all centred around the evening’s “once upon a time telling theme” which highlights the story behind each watch and jewellery piece. 
 

Dazzling opening of Jewellery Arabia 2018 in Bahrain.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa inaugurated the success of the Jewellery Arabia 2018 exhibition. The exhibition, in its 27th edition, features more than 550 exhibitors from 30 countries representing the leading companies of jewellery, luxury watches, precious stones, art objects and high-end writing tools.

HRH Prince Khalifa toured the exhibition's pavilions where he was briefed on the diverse range of products that showcases the spirit of creativity and luxury displayed brilliantly every year by the participants.

He expressed his admiration for the high value of the exhibition in this year's edition and stressed that the Jewellery Arabia Exhibition has become a milestone in the world of gold and jewellery industry. 

He praised the efforts of Bahraini designers and innovators who are working to integrate the original Bahraini heritage into the gold and jewellery industry and to present them in creative works with a global reputation.

Chopard celebrates the 2019 Breakthrough prize.

Silicon Valley’s Breakthrough Prize Foundation recognized the outstanding achievement of individuals in the fields of life sciences, physics and mathematics in a ceremony held at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California. Chopard partnered with the foundation to create special jewellery pieces for the 2019 Breakthrough Prize laureates that were presented ahead of the seventh annual “Oscars of Science” event. All previous and future Breakthrough Prize laureates, as well as junior researchers honored with the New Horizons Prize, will also receive these symbols of recognition. 
 

Backes & Strauss partners with Kenya-based Lewa and Borana Conservancies.

Backes & Strauss, was a sponsor of the first Lewa Borana Ball this November. The fundraising event was held at the Dorchester Hotel on Thursday, 1 November, 2018 and helped raise £588,000 GBP in support of the Lewa and Borana Conservancies’ next generation of conservation work. The Miss Victoria timepiece in white gold was generously donated by Backes & Strauss for the ball’s Live Auction. This elegant cocktail watch was modelled by the beautiful Lady Tatiana Mountbatten.  
 

Boucheron announces its support to The Abu Dhabi Art Fair.

Boucheron announce its partnership with the Abu Dhabi Art Fair.  The Fair welcomes a French High Jewellery House for the very first time on the occasion of its 10th anniversary. In keeping with its free spirit, Boucheron is highlighting its innovative know-how at this internationally influential cultural event. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, the Art Fair will took place from the 12th to the 17th November 2018.

Bovet unveils The Ottantasei tourbillon.

The Ottantasei tourbillon the latest creation born of the passionate partnership between BOVET and Pininfarina. The BOVET artisans rose to multiple challenges, including the machining and three-dimensional decoration of the mainplate. So as not to hinder the lateral transparency created by the original sapphire crystals encircling the case middle, BOVET’s technicians imagined an ingenious casing system that also significantly reduced the thickness of the timepiece. A single barrel keeps the double-sided flying tourbillon revolving for more than 10 days.

Watches & Wonders Miami returns to the Miami design district in February 2019.

The Fondation Haute Horlogerie (FHH), in partnership with the Miami Design District Associates (MDDA), announces the second edition of Watches & Wonders Miami (WWM) will be held over Presidents’ Day Weekend in Miami.  The 3-day weekend of luxury (February 15-17) is expanding to include a total of 28 exhibiting watch and jewelry maisons spread throughout Palm Court and the surrounding streets of the Miami Design District.
