Baselworld 2017 proved their ability to marshall their powers of innovation and excellence.

Baselword 2017 which was held in the city centre from 23 to 30 March, 220 of Switzerland’s watchmaking and jewellery brands presented their latest creations. And as this major event in the sector draws once again to a close, Swiss exhibitors have amply proved their ability to marshall their powers of innovation and excellence and resist the current turbulence in the market. Despite two consecutive years of slowdown, Switzerland’s watchmaking industry has doubled the value of its exports in just over a decade, to reach CHF 19.4 billion at end 2016, and remains the country’s third biggest export sector.

Arnold & Son reveals Instrument DSTB, stainless steel.

Arnold  &  Son  unveils  a  new  stainless  steel  edition  of  the  DSTB  (Dial  Side True  Beat).
The self-winding calibre A&S6003 has 229 components.  In  true Arnold  &  Son  style,  the  palladium  treated  movement features  Haute  Horlogerie  finishing with hand-chamfered and satin-finished lever and bridges, polished edges and fine circular graining and Côtes de Genève rayonnantes. The visible dial plate is blue PVD treated with large circular finishing, and screws with bevelled and mirror-polished heads.
 

Ulysse Nardin presents Marine Grand Deck Tourbillon.

The Marine Grand Deck Tourbillon, a limited edition of 18 pieces is crafted in 5N rose gold. The dial is finely crafted in pin oak, the slightly darker wood of this edition is the color of chocolate, enhancing the rose gold of the case and lugs. Using super-strong yet ultra-fine nanowires for the ropes, the mechanism employs a unique retrograde jumping hour device, driving the minute hand with 2 pulleys and 2 winches in gold. The minutes are displayed in gold on a spinel arc across the center of the dial.

NET-A-PORTER launches an exclusive capsule with fine jewellery brand Repossi, marking the first time the Parisian atelier have designed a collection exclusively for an online retail partner.   Entitled ‘Technical Berbère’, the pieces are inspired by the brand’s iconic ‘Berbère’ collection. Comprising three compressed  interlaced  rings,  the  collection  creates  fractions  of  technical  ellipses  for  an  infinite  result  of simplicity and elegance.
