A memorial to Walter Lange
A memorial to the company’s founder Walter Lange was unveiled in the redesigned square outside the Saint Wolfgang church as part of celebrations to mark the 175th anniversary of Glashütte’s watchmaking industry. By doing so, the town is paying tribute to the man who brought precision watchmaking to Glashütte for a second time after the German reunification in 1990. Without his far-sighted decision to continue his family’s legacy and make a fresh start, there would be no flourishing watchmaking industry in Saxony today. In the presence of former Prime Minister of Saxony Kurt Biedenkopf, Lange's CEO Wilhelm Schmid, Walter Lange's son Benjamin with his wife Joanna and other invited guests, Glashütte Mayor Markus Dreßler and Lange's former Managing Director Hartmut Knothe unveiled the bronze monument created by Thomas Jastram. |

Parmigiani Fleurier launches new Tonda Reine de Mai
The Tonda Reine de Mai features a beautiful bouquet of mother-of-pearl, rose gold, and diamond-set ?owers, akin to the snow-white Daisy May buds often seen into late Summer. Machined to achieve their perfect shape, they are ?nished by hand before being placed atop a white mother-of-pearl dial comprised of 23 di?erent marquetry elements. The six mother-of-pearl ?owers are particularly challenging to decorate, as the material is quite delicate and fragile. The dial features an additional six Daisy May ?owers, three in rose gold with alternating polished and engraved petals, and three in white gold and handset with 117 diamonds. |

Every second numeral and the 6 have been replaced with indexes. “Less is more,” the renowned maxim from Ludwig Mies van der Rohes, could not be more fitting here. Sapphire crystal glass on both sides, stainless steel, Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan, brass, silver, rubies—these are the materials that this classic timepiece and its mechanical caliber are made from. And like the other classics from NOMOS Glashütte, this watch is designed to last a lifetime. It can be repaired, should it ever need to be.
