Richemont’s trading in the three month period ended 31 December 2019 at constant exchange rates versus the prior year period

During the quarter under review, sales progressed by 4%, with growth in all regions except Japan according to Richemont report. Sales in Europe grew by 9%, benefiting from favourable comparative numbers and strong sales in most markets. Sales in Asia Pacific increased by 2%, driven by strong double digit sales growth in China and Korea, which more than offset a severe sales contraction in Hong Kong SAR, China and contrasted performances in other Asian markets. Sales in the Americas rose by 5%, led by good performances in the US that compensated for declines in other markets. The 3% sales increase in the Middle East and Africa reflected a good performance of retail (both online and offline) and favourable comparative numbers in a soft economic environment.

Concern grows over impact of China virus

At the beginning of a new year should the Swiss watch exports express their concern over the escalating impact of the China virus? Chinese travel plans over the current Chinese New Year period is put on hold till further notice. Hence, this will certainly impact the luxury travel market as it should witness a drastic drop in sales. Another serious concern to the Swiss watch industry at large.

Here it is again, brought to light by its Creative Director, who wanted to put a personal take on this timeless icon to establish it as one of the Maison's recognised and unmistakable signature creations. The original necklace combines simplicity with opulence: the simplicity of the clean lines of the circular part that wraps around the neck, the opulence of a main motif, consisting of lotus flowers, bunches of grapes, poppy petals, and even a snake.

Manufacture Royale introduces new Micromegas Automatic Tourbillon Micro Rotor

Manufacture Royale introduced a new Micromegas Automatic Tourbillon Micro Rotor where the aesthetic approach conveys the development of components at the heart of the movement. On a titanium or rose gold case, the dial is light, represented only by an open worked component, thus allowing a beading to express itself on the plate which is not, without reminding us, a “bouchonné” dashboard of a car. The hands are hand-decorated and have two sides, one satin and the other polished. The center of the hands is sandblasted with a super Luminova. Each screw is angled and polished and locked. The ingenious mechanism of the flying tourbillon offers a good view of the hypnotic ballet of this mobile cage.

Louis Vuitton’s new Tambour Moon Dual Time Collection

The Tambour Moon, created in 2017, retained the original spirit while giving the watch a new, expressive look with an inward curve on the case reminiscent of a crescent moon. Thanks to the design of its dial and the endless customisation possibilities offered by the palette of over 100 interchangeable straps, the Tambour Moon expresses the spirit of travel with its GMT complication as well as demonstrating Louis Vuitton’s fine craftsmanship and creativity. Whatever the version – 35 mm, 39.5 mm or 44 mm in diameter – travel and escapism beckon with this Tambour Moon Dual Time. And while the hands display local time, the home time is perfectly readable on the pleasingly attractive sunray-brushed or shot-blasted dial.
