Pandora Jewellery reported its revenue surged by 35.4% year on year to $1.66 billion for the fiscal year that ended on December 31. Pandora's profit during 2013 jumped 84.7% to $409 million.

Swiss watch exports increased by 6 per with strong demand from the Middle East

According to the Federation of the Swiss ?Watch Industry, the Swiss Watch exports increased by 5.6 percent year on year to $1.76 billion in January 2014.? This rise in exports was due to a substantial increase in units made from steel watches and watches from other metals coupled with strong demand from the United Arab Emirates (due to increase in tourists and re-exports to other GCC markets), Japan and U.S.A. Wristwatch exports rose 4.6% to $1.656 billion, while the number of units shipped increased by 2.5% to 2.181 million.

Abu Dhabi hotel guests up 36% in January

Around 277,000 guests checked into Abu Dhabi’s 149 hotels and hotel apartments in January this year, marking a 36 per cent increase on January 2013, Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA). Total hotel revenues climbed 22 per cent to Dh522 million, with food and beverage recording a 21 per cent growth to approximately Dh194 million, the tourism authority said in a statement last week.

Engelman to Step Down as Worldwatch Institute President

Worldwatch Institute President Robert Engelman has announced his decision to step down as head of the pioneering environmental research organization. Engelman will become a Senior Fellow at Worldwatch and return to the environmental and population research and writing he has pursued for much of his career. Engelman informed the leadership of the Institute's Board of Directors last fall of his intention to resign at an appropriate time in 2014. He will serve as President until March 15, 2014, at which time Board Chair Ed Groark will become Acting President of the Institute.

Officine Panerai reveals the Radiomir 8 Days GMT Oro Rosso

The Radiomir 8 Days GMT Oro Rosso has a cushion case of polished red gold. The dial is deep blue with a satiné soleil finish, elegantly set off by the warm tone of the 5Npt red gold, an alloy that has a higher percentage of copper than yellow or pink gold and a proportion of platinum. The same alloy is used for the adjustable clasp closing the blue alligator strap. The brushed bridges with gold-coloured engraving are finished with anglage (chamfering) while the plate is decorated with perlage (circular graining).
