DGCX records ‘most successful year’

According to the Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange (DGCX), it saw record levels of volume and value of deals traded on the bourse in 2019, calling it the ‘most successful year since launch’. The bourse traded more than 23.06 million deals during the last 12 months, beating the 22.26 million contracts recorded in 2018, as more investors turned to commodities as a hedge against uncertainty last year. The bourse said it also cleared over $866 billion in notional value and recorded its highest annual average open interest (AOI), with 324,803 contracts, up from the 284,736 contracts registered in 2018.

 

Watches & Wonders Geneva celebrates watchmaking's finest talent

From April 25th to 29th 2020, the leading names in Fine Watchmaking will be in Geneva for the 30th edition of SIHH which becomes Watches & Wonders Geneva. This new format welcomes 31 watch brands including MB&F and H. Moser & Cie. They join the Historic Maisons after four years as part of the Carré des Horlogers, which continues to spotlight the most talented independent watchmakers and in 2020 sees the arrival of five new brands. The new format of Watches & Wonders Geneva enables watchmaking's foremost representatives to address not only their core audience of retailers, journalists, selected customers and partners, but also a wider audience of people who appreciate beautiful objects and recognise the exceptional skills and expertise that compose every Fine Watch.

 

UAE proposed six-month stay for five-year visa holders

UAE has recently announced that it will be introducing a 5-year tourist visa. Holders of the new five-year multiple-entry tourist visa may be allowed to stay for six months at a stretch. According to the report, that while details of the new five-year validity tourist visa will be announced soon, it is being proposed that the visa will allow visitors to stay for up to six months on every entry within the span of five-year validity. About the eligibility of getting the new visa, the terms and conditions for getting the five-year visa will remain the same as those in place for all other types of tourist visas.

Ulysse Nardin’s approach used here is to store the “digital signature” of all PDF warranty certificates in the form of a “hash” – i.e. an encrypted string of characters – on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Oman marks its presence at the International VICENZAORO Fair

The Gulf Institute of Gemology which recently opened its doors in the Sultanate of Oman, a one of its kind institute in the region, will be present at delegation capacity at the international event of the year. The Vicenzaoro Fair is the international event of reference for the gold and jewelry industry, hosting delegations from all over the world. CEO of GIG Fabio D’Amico will be attending the fair as delegation representing Oman. D’Amico a highly skilled gemologist with years of experience working with gems, in the past he has worked as ‘Manager of Education’ for the worlds famed gemology authority, the Gemological Institute of America.
