Talking to Christophe Musy Co-founder and Director about his journey and experience with Mauron Musy brand

“Mauron Musy will always symbolize the finest choice in advanced mechanical performance watches through innovative technology.

How do you describe the DNA of Mauron Musy?

Read our tag line ‘Innovative watch engineering’. It’s definitely our DNA as what we really want to make most advanced mechanical performance watches. We work every day to explore new technologies to ensure there is no need for after sale service for our products it so it’s our DNA to make an innovative watch. 

How did the nO-Ring technology innovation helped in promoting your brand?

We spoke about the DNA so the design in fact comes from the technology. We can explain why the watch design the way it is and this reassures the client that no after sales service is necessary when he buys our watch.

Design, precision, functionality or material - what comes first for Mauron Musy and why?

Functionality is always first. It ensures the precision of the watch and influences the choice of material and the design elements. 

How important is it for a luxury brand to be engaged in sustainability? And how do you value the new Blockchain and the crypto currency trend for your brand?

We make some saving by going digital especially in some countries like Japan and United States. We did evaluate the possibilities of this crypto currency and we found something very interesting. We will probably use that on our website and we keep learning and are open to this new technology. As for Blockchain I don’t know if we can do something but we have association with one of the companies who’s doing the Blockchain. Regarding sustainability, we have a label that is called Swiss Trusted, which means that 100 percent of the components have to be made in Switzerland. It means that the watch is entirely made within a radius of 60 kilometer of our manufacture.

Where would the next big expansion plan for the brand be? 

As you know we are a very young manufacture and the Covid-19 pandemic, was not at all good for business in particular in 2020.  Our plan was for expansion in Europe and Middle East. We are still on with our plan as we feel these two regions, Middle East and Europe, are the right markets for us.

We have witnessed a new genderless trend in the market. Mauron Musy appears as a very masculine and sporty brand.  How do you intend to promote your brand among female customers?

We have a plan to have a new watch for next year. This watches will be 44mm and 41mm and more delicate but the DNA remains the same. We will certainly make mechanical watches that women can actually wear with pride.

Swatch unveils new Expo Collection & third countdown clock at Dubai Mall

With only two months to go until Expo 2020 Dubai, Official Timing Provider Swatch unveiled the third Countdown Clock in Dubai and four new special edition watches. The newest countdown clock, located at Dubai Mall, is the third of three clocks – along with the Dubai Frame Countdown Clock and the Dubai International Financial Centre Countdown Clock – ticking down the hours, minutes, and seconds until the grand opening of the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region. The third Countdown Clock has pride of place outside Dubai Mall, the largest shopping mall in the world and is flanked by the Burj Khalifa, the tallest structure in the world. Complementing Expo’s theme of “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”, the carefully selected location is particularly worth a visit after sunset, when the clock, the mall and the Burj Khalifa are fully illuminated.

Piaget partners with Arcenciel for the NOUR initiative

Piaget has recently announced its collaboration with Arcenciel for the NOUR initiative to support solar light and education in Beirut, Lebanon following the blast that occurred on 4th August 2020, devastating the city and causing catastrophic damage. A powerful gesture of hope and love, thirty limited edition Piaget Possession Pendants in Rose Gold and in White Gold, dedicated to raising more funds for arcenciel, will be available from July 15 till September 15 in all Piaget boutiques in the Middle East. All proceeds from the sale of the thirty limited editions of Piaget Possession Pendants have been donated directly to arcenciel in support of their ongoing work. The Laureato Absolute Ti 230 unites the two stories of Girard-Perregaux and William Gregor, drawing on know-how amassed over 230 years. The Laureato Absolute Ti 230 is offered in two variants, blue and grey. Each option is limited to 230 pieces. The blue dial version of the Laureato Absolute Ti 230 will be sold exclusively by Wempe for one month in its ten boutiques across Germany as well as its flagship stores in New York and London. Thereafter, the model will be available in all authorized Girard-Perregaux retailers and on the brand’s e-commerce site. Audemars Piguet unveiled its first Royal Oak Selfwinding for the smaller wrists fully crafted in black ceramics. The sleek aesthetics of this black model in 34 mm is enhanced with pink gold accents for a refined two-tone contrast. Timeless and versatile, the black hues will seamlessly complement the unique style of its wearer. Black ceramics’ aesthetic beauty also lies in its technical complexity, each ceramic model requiring dedicated manufacturing and hand-finishing processes. Making its appearance in the 34 mm Royal Oak Selfwinding collection, the composition and manufacturing of this unyielding material had to be adapted to the watch’s diminutive size, without compromising on the Royal Oak’s proportions, aesthetic codes and finishing techniques. 

 

Introducing Graham Fortress Ltd

The Graham Fortress is a chronograph equipped with a monopusher set within the crown. By placing the monopusher/crown on the left flank of the case, the watch breaks with convention. However, there is much sense in taking this unusual approach to chronograph design. The Fortress upholds Graham's fondness for aviation-themed product names. Another key benefit of positioning the combined crown and monopusher on the left is superior wearer comfort. Often when a watch is worn and the wearer flexes their wrist, the protrusions on the right flank of the case gouge the wrist, chafe the skin or inhibit free movement. The Fortress's leftfield approach causes no such problems. The blue sunray dial and the black grained dial feature bold, luminescent hour and minutes which collaborate with ample, applied Arabic numerals, imparting meaning.

Eberhard & Co. to present the new “Scientigraf” at COUTURE-Time Las Vegas 2021

Eberhard & Co. will participate in the 2021 edition of Couture-Time Las Vegas, the great exhibition hosting the most important luxury watch brands and America’s top retail community, in an exclusive and luxurious setting. On this occasion the Swiss Maison will present, as special preview on the US market, one of its main novelties of this first half of the year: the new “Scientigraf” model, a contemporary recreation of the renowned 1961 model proposed as solution to the increasingly widespread presence of magnetisation sources. The new ‘Scientigraf’ has a 41 mm steel case, it is water-resistant to 100 m and is powered by a self-winding mechanical movement with dial readings for hours, minutes and seconds at the centre.
