Swiss Watch Export analysis – September 2016/2017
TheSwiss Watch Export figures for the month of September 2017 showed a rise thisyear with a growth of 3.7% compared to 2016 with the exports at CHF1768.40mln in September 2017 compared to CHF 1705.60mln in 2016worldwide. Inthe top ten markets worldwide, Hong Kong led the markets with exports value at CHF 213.4 mln in September 2017 compared with CHF 187.7 mln in 2016 an increase of 13.7%. USA was second with exports value at CHF 192.8 mln in September 2017 compared with CHF 193.8 mln in 2016 a drop by (0.6%). Singapore was at the third position with exports value at CHF 179.2 mln in September 2017 compared with CHF 94.5 mln in 2016 a massive increase of 89.6% . The other markets like Japan, Italy,Germany and France recorded a drop. TheSwiss Watch Exports in the Mena Region showed a recovery with more positivetrends, exports have increased by (0.55%) for the month of September from CHF 144.20 million in2016 to CHF 145 million in 2017.While UAE maintained its ranking of 1st position in the Middle East interms of the volume in exports, it dropped by (12.7)% in September 2017 when compared with same period in 2016. Kingdom ofSaudi Arabia remains at No. 2 showing a healthy growth of 39.6% with exports ofCHF 22.5 in September 2017 from CHF16.1 in the 2016 for the same period. Qataralso maintained its 3rd position with total exports amounting to CHF11.7 with an increase of 7.5% over the same period last year. Kuwait hada small increase of 0.2%, Kingdom of Bahrain is in the 5thspot with an increase of 11.5% in exports of Swiss Watches.
