Stephen Forsey Co-founder of Greubel Forsey: Our main Focus Will Remain on the Collector’s Satisfaction

What are your expectations at SIHH 2016?

SIHH is the very unique opportunity for our partners and collectors to get the chance to see our Greubel Forsey collection of creations. It is always a special excitement for our partners to visit our booth and discover the additions to the Greubel Forsey collection. The challenge for our visitors is always to guess which creation is new! At SIHH 2016 we will definitely strike their expectations with very strong creations so for sure they will not be disappointed.

What are the foreseen trends and directions with watches in 2016?

Greubel Forsey has never followed trends as such. The creation process is only resulting from Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey along with their team, to be inspired by exceeding the collector’s aspiration, improving technical performances of complications and pushing the limits of ultimate hand finishing.  This year the visitors will get to see a retrospective of every invention from Greubel Forsey marked by key industry awards: notably the “Double Tourbillon 30°, Tourbillon 24 Secondes Incliné, Quadruple Tourbillon and Quantième Perpetuel à Equation”.

When would we expect the SIHH novelties to be available at boutiques and POS in the Middle East?

Of course the first opportunity for Middle East collectors to discover new creations from Greubel Forsey will be during the Doha Exhibition in February to which we participate with our partner Al Majed Jewellery.

How is your brand faring in the Middle East?

The interest for Greubel Forsey in the Middle East is definitely growing as the number of collectors is getting more and more important. We particularly notice a high level of knowledge from collectors in the region, looking for new territories in “Haute Horlogerie”. Since the first days of Greubel Forsey we have been present in Dubai with A. Seddiqi & Sons and the recent exhibition “Dubai Watch Week” that took place last October is a direct result of the collector’s expectations. Our retail distribution in the Middle East is now complete with presence in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and U.A.E. It creates an authentic proximity with our existing collectors and gives us the chance to meet new ones. Greubel Forsey enjoys a strong reputation in the region and recent MPP Arabia Awards in 2014 and 2015 are a major regional recognition.

Describe your relationship with collectors in the Middle East.

The relationship is a key word in Middle East. Thus we have established a true and authentic partnership with our retailers so that we get to meet personally most of Greubel Forsey collectors. The proximity allows us to provide our collectors a service to the level of our shared expectations. We learn a lot from their sophistication and global knowledge of Haute Horlogerie. We notice that a majority of our collectors own more than one Greubel Forsey.

We are very privileged to have close relationships with our collectors not only in the Middle east but worldwide, and it is one of our most important assets.

What are your brands priorities for 2016?

To continue working closely with our exclusive partners to ensure our collectors have a unique experience and high level of service given Greubel Forsey’s exclusivity and unique approach.

Did your export figures increase in the Middle East for 2015?

Thanks to our retail partners they increased and we hope that 2016 will be in the same trend and our main focus should remain on the collector’s satisfaction.

Product Launch

Montblanc ExoTourbillon Slim

fiogf49gjkf0d
In celebration of its 110th anniversary, Montblanc introduced five new models – one with a new caliber – in its 4810 collection. The revamped collection is designed to reflect the era of adventurous sea travel at the turn of the century, around the time Montblanc was founded (in 1910).
The star of the new 4810 lineup is the ExoTourbillon Slim, with a new manufacture caliber, the Montblanc 29.21, a tourbillon with a stop-seconds function for precise setting. The movement is ultra-slim, measuring only 4.5 mm thick and the cased watch only 10.14 mm thick. The automatic Caliber 29.21 contains a micro-rotor, engraved in a côtes de Genève Eventail (fan) pattern, allowing the movement to be seen through the crystal caseback. The ExoTourbillon Slim, which was three years in development, will be limited to 36 pieces in white gold.

Laurent Ferrier Traveller Globe Night Blue

The Laurent Ferrier Traveller Globe Night Blue embodies a combination of the original Laurent Ferrier case. The dial is a sophisticated aesthetic expression of the expertise cultivated by Laurent Ferrier. It is adorned with a convex planisphere depicting the five continents in painted 18K white gold, surrounded by blue enamel. The latter area portraying the seas and oceans is crafted using the champlevé technique that entails hollowing out recesses in the material that are filled with enamel. The edges of the continents slope gently down towards the coastlines, displaying various shades of blue.

MB&F LM101 Platinum

The new MB&F LM101platinum case is 40 mm in diameter. The blue dial holds the suspended balance wheel, which is characteristic of the LM101. The time and power reserve are displayed on the white subsidiary dials. The movement is the same incredible manual-winding, in-house movement finished by Kari Voutilainen. The platinum LM101 is a limited series of 33 pieces.

Baume & Mercier Clifton Chronograph Complete Calendar

The Clifton Chronograph Complete Calendar stands out as the centerpiece in this line of small complication watches, working its undeniable charm on men's wrists with an array of impressive features. Powered by a Swiss-made automatic movement of impeccable quality – the Valjoux 7751 caliber – this classically styled watch offers two highly functional complications: a complete calendar and a chronograph. The perpetual calendar takes the form of a central-hand date, complemented here by day and month displays in twin apertures at 12 o' clock, along with a day/night indicator at 9 o'clock. The moon phase disk completes one rotation every 29 and a half days (i.e. one lunar month), in the process displaying the current phase of the lunar cycle in a counter at 6 o'clock. The central second hand counts the seconds of the chronograph. Minutes and hours can be timed simultaneously via the two auxiliary counters positioned at 12 and 6 o'clock respectively, where the chronograph function is highlighted by blued-steel hands.
