LVMH set to launch E-Commerce Site for All Brands.
LVMH to launch an e-commerce site this May to sell not only its own brands but other non-LVMH products as well. According to a report from the Financial Times, The website will offer not only brands from LVMH’s own stable the company owns Bulgari, TAG Heuer and Hublot, among others but also non-LVMH brands, making it competition for other online luxury websites such as Net-a-Porter and Farfetch. The luxury goods company plans to launch a website in May branded as Le Bon Marché, which is the department store that the company acquired in 1984. The Financial Times story also noted that the move would be the first from the luxury goods company since it hired Ian Rogers from Apple as chief digital officer in 2015.

Bloomingdale’s opened its doors on Tuesday at the 360 Mall in Kuwait City, only its second location outside of the US. Bloomingdale’s has again partnered with the UAE’s Al Tayer Group. |

Dubai's non-oil foreign trade at Dh 1.28 trillion in 2016.
The value of Dubai’s non-oil foreign trade stood at Dh1.276 trillion for 2016, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, said on Wednesday. Shaikh Hamdan said the overall value of trade had risen 70 per cent between 2009 and 2016. The year’s imports were valued at Dh803 billion, with re-exports accounting for Dh330 billion and exports Dh143 billion.

Ivanka Trump to End Fine Jewelry Line.
Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry will no longer be produced but the brand’s newer, lower-priced fashion line will continue. Abigail Klem, president of the first daughter’s eponymous company, said in a statement: “As part of our company’s commitment to offering solution-oriented products at accessible price points, we have decided to discontinue the Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry collection. Klem took over as the head of Ivanka Trump early this year as Trump took a leave of absence. While Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry is no more, it’s probable that Ivanka Trump clothing, shoes, bags and fashion jewelry, which is stocked exclusively at Lord & Taylor, will continue as long as business is sound.

Dubai shuts down 8,894 'fake' social network accounts.
The Department of Economic Development (DED) ordered closure of 8,894 social networking accounts that were used to peddle counterfeit goods in 2016. The crackdown was part of protecting trademarks and eliminating practices that are harmful to e-commerce and the sustainability of businesses in Dubai. Together, the accounts were found to have over 94.5 million followers and 80 per cent were Instagram accounts although other platforms, including Facebook and Twitter were also used by the violators. A number of villas, warehouses and apartments used to stock counterfeits were raided and the goods confiscated in 2016 after reinforced monitoring efforts by the DED team.
