Swiss watch exports returned rapidly to growth following the downturn in June
The value of exports was 1.9 billion francs, an increase of 4.3% compared with July 2018. The main contribution to the increase in total value came from watches made from precious metals, which saw turnover from export sales grow by 11.5%. Volumes continued to fall for the twelfth consecutive month as the downward trend worsened, with 390,000 fewer items shipped overseas. This was the sharpest fall since July 2016. Hong Kong (-1.3%) remained in the red but performed significantly better than it had in June. The majority of other markets saw an increase in July. The United States (+6.1%) maintained a steady pace. In Asia, there was strong growth in China (+16.3%), Japan (+23.4%) and Singapore (+17.9%). The situation in Europe (-0.8%), however, was less satisfactory. The United Kingdom (-0.4%), France (-12.0%) and Germany (-3.6%) all declined. While Italy’s monthly performance improved (+1.9%), the medium-term trend there still showed a marked decline. |

The event included performances by rapper Rick Ross while attendees included Hailey Beiber, Quavo, Tiffany Haddish, Nicole Scherzinger, Coco Rocha, Dua Lipa, Gala Gonzalez, David Alexander Flinn and more. The venue was modeled to replicate a luxury department store. As guests walked through the space, they were able to see the full collection on display. |

Mouawad announced a new partnership with The Miss Universe Organization, which will see winners of its three prestigious pageants, MISS UNIVERSE®, MISS USA® and MISS TEEN USA® honored with crowns crafted by Mouawad. The OMEGA Celebrity Masters Begins an Exciting Week of Golf
The mountains of Switzerland are usually seen dusted with snow. But this summer, as the OMEGA Masters gets ready to begin, the peaks in Crans-Montana have been glistening with golfing talent and a few celebrity superstars. Out on the course were OMEGA’s own professional players including Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Tommy Fleetwood. But they weren’t the only talents in the spotlight. Joining their teams were Justin Timberlake, Niall Horan, Dennis Quaid, Anthony Mackie and Michael Pena. While they all showed their flair with a golf club during the Pro-Am, OMEGA was proud to later present Justin Timberlake with the OMEGA Celebrity Masters trophy, for achieving the group’s best individual score on the day. |

Apple has unveiled its newest Watch, the Series 5, which builds on last year's model with an always-on display, compass, and different materials. It 5 features 32GB of storage, doubling the 16GB available in the Series 4. The user can change the look of the watch by swapping out bands. The Apple Watch Series 5 now comes in titanium. The watch has apps to keep an eye of the heart, it can quickly check the heart rate and get notifications when it appears to be too high or too low. It also tells when things are getting a little loud. The new Noise app alerts the user when decibels rise to levels that can impact hearing. |
