Trafalgar Luxury Group celebrates 50 successful years with repositioning plan and further expansion in the region
Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Kuwaiti homegrown luxury retailer Trafalgar has announced its repositioning to become Trafalgar Luxury Group and outlined plans to further expand its presence in the region. The Group has restructured its leadership and operations to support its strategic transformation and build on its legacy as a leading luxury retailer in the region. The restructure is in line with Trafalgar Luxury Group’s strategic plans to future-proof the company, ensuring it remains relevant and distinctive, in line with the fast-paced nature of luxury retail. Brands within the Group's portfolio have been carefully selected based on regional luxury consumer needs, including Chopard, Patek Philippe, Bvlgari, Apple, TAG Heuer, and Aigner. New partnerships for the Group include Marli, Furla, Bimba Y Lola, and Richemont Group (Time Vallee).

Chalhoub Group signs exclusive partnership with French jewellery brand Korloff
Leading partner, curator and creator of luxury products and services in the Middle East, Chalhoub Group signed an exclusive partnership with French jewellery brand Korloff to relaunch its retail presence in the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain, in line with their new global brand identity. Insights from the Chalhoub Group’s recently released “GCC Personal Luxury in 2021: A Story of Early Recovery and Growth” report indicates that the high jewellery and luxury watches segment in the GCC was worth US$3.9 billion in 2021 and growing at 16 percent vs 2019. Estimates indicate that the GCC high jewellery and luxury watches segment is set to grow up to 8 percent by 2023, indicating the significance of the market. |

Damac's Hussain Sajwani buys Swiss jewellery brand de Grisogono
After buying luxury label Cavalli, the Damac Group is turning its attention to the Swiss jewellery brand, de Grisogono. The latter, which had been in bankruptcy proceedings, has been bought by Damac founder Hussain Sajwani after a bidding process. Alongside the deal, Damac said it launched a property project called Safa One by de Grisogono in Dubai, featuring cascading waterfalls, hanging gardens and a manmade beach on the podium level. Grisogono is most known for its ‘Creation I’ necklace, which featured the largest ‘D flawless diamond in the world’ and fetched $33.7 million at an auction in 2017. The jeweller has adorned many celebrities on the red-carpet including Hollywood actress Natalie Portman and supermodel Naomi Campbell. |

BOVET opens its first boutique in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
BOVET 1822 has recently announced the opening of its first boutique in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in partnership with Saudi Jawahir Co., a very well-established luxury house. The new boutique, located on the ground floor of Olaya Towers across from Centria Mall in Riyadh, is more than 240 square meters in size and features a complete collection of BOVET timepieces. This boutique is the first step in developing the brand in the Kingdom and both BOVET and Saudi Jawahir are committed to being a part of the future of the country. Saudi Arabia is already a destination for lovers of luxury items and the plan moving forward is to open more boutiques in Riyadh and in Jeddah as well. |

The new Hôtel des Horlogers opens its doors in the Vallée de Joux
Inspired by the Vallée de Joux, the new Hôtel des Horlogers opens its doors in the village of Le Brassus, where its predecessor, the Hôtel de France, settled in 1857. This hotel has been designed by BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group and realised by the Swiss architecture office CCHE, two partners who also signed the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet situated a few steps away. The building’s avant-garde architecture follows the Vallée de Joux’s topography thanks to zigzagging slabs gradually descending towards the meadows. Pim Koeslag acquires a majority stake in Christiaan van der Klaauw Astronomical Watches
Master watchmaker Pim Koeslag has acquired a majority stake in the luxury watch atelier Christiaan van der Klaauw Astronomical Watches. Koeslag will join the existing management team as Technical Director, along with Daniël Reintjes (CEO/Creative Director) and Maria Reintjes (Marketing Director) who will retain a share in the company. With the arrival of master watchmaker Pim Koeslag, continuity is guaranteed for the future of Christiaan van der Klaauw Astronomical Watches. Besides maintaining the existing business, more developments are planned, including a first in-house movement. |

Max Büsser and Stephen McDonnell presented the Legacy Machine Sequential EVO. The dial plate of LM Sequential EVO, available in atomic orange or coal black, features two chronograph displays. One has its seconds display at 9 o’clock and minutes display at 11 o’clock. The other has its seconds display at 3 o’clock and minutes display at 1 o’clock. Each of these chronograph displays can be started, stopped, and reset completely independently of each other, using the start/stop and reset pushers on their respective sides of the case. These make up the four chronograph pushers you would usually associate with having two chronograph mechanisms in one watch. |
