Mohammed Rasool Khoory & Sons open the world’s biggest standalone Tudor boutique at Yas Mall Abu Dhabi

H.E. Massimo Baggi, the honourable Swiss Ambassador to the UAE, was the guest of honor at the opening ceremony of the Swiss watchmaker’s first exclusive mono-brand store in Abu Dhabi. Yousef Al Khoori, CEO of Mohammed Rasool Khoory & Sons, received the honourable Ambassador in the presence of Mr. Roland Enderli, Sales Director of Tudor Watches and management, representatives of Aldar Real Estate Company (Yas Mall), media professionals and other distinguished guests. The 125 sqm Tudor boutique at Yas Mall, the largest worldwide, will offer an exceptional range of men’s and women’s timepieces, including classic, sport, diving and heritage-inspired watches and the latest Tudor Black Bay Pro.

NORQAIN announces Jean-Claude Biver as advisor to the board

NORQAIN has recently announced a new and exciting collaboration with Jean-Claude Biver – the industry legend who has brought success to every brand he was involved with. Jacob & Co., Bucherer BLUE, and Sotheby's send the first triple axis tourbillon into space

Jacob & Co., Bucherer BLUE, and Sotheby's, are reaching for the stars. The two famed watch companies, celebrated for their innovative and dazzling design, along with Sotheby's, the world's premier destination for art and luxury, have joined forces in the spirit of exploration to send a special timepiece into the unmapped vastness of space before going up for a charitable auction this summer. Named the Jacob & Co. Astronomia Tourbillon Bucherer BLUE, the unique watch, a marvel of Swiss craftsmanship and the decorative arts, was the first triple axis tourbillon to leave the Earth's atmosphere. On offer with no reserve- and bidding starting at $1- proceeds will be donated to benefit charities, with further details to be announced at a later date.

 

Sascha Moeri to leave Carl F. Bucherer

After 12 successful years as the CEO of Carl F. Bucherer and two years as the general manager of Bucherer Fine Jewellery, Sascha Moeri has decided to leave the company on June 30, 2022, to pursue new professional challenges. Robert Ambord, who has been the Art Director of Bucherer Fine Jewellery since August 2021, will take over management of Bucherer Fine Jewellery on an ad-interim basis. Robert Ambord was responsible for jewelry at Gübelin for more than 20 years and has a great deal of experience in the jewelry industry. Sascha Moeri’s former deputy, Uwe Liebminger, will take over the management of Carl F. Bucherer on an ad-interim basis. Uwe Liebminger has been responsible for global marketing and product development at Carl F. Bucherer since April 2020. He has gained extensive expertise in the watch industry over more than a decade in leadership roles with IWC and Breitling both in Switzerland and abroad.

 

Zenith, Kari Voutilainen and Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo unite to create a modern masterpiece

Zenith makes its most awarded movement from the golden age of chronometry competitions available to acquire for the first time ever. An idea initiated by Phillips’ Aurel Bacs and Alexandre Ghotbi, with whom Zenith had already worked with on unique pieces and exclusive editions, Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo invited renowned independent watchmaker Kari Voutilainen to restore and hand-decorate a batch of Zenith Calibre 135-O movements, all of which took part and won in observatory chronometer competitions. The result is a contemporary chronometer produced in a series of 10 pieces and sold exclusively by Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo.

 

Maria Tash opens at The Avenues in Kuwait

Maria Tash has announced a new store location in Prestige at The Avenues, Kuwait, targeted to open this Spring. Maria Tash Kuwait is the country’s first permanent store location, spanning over 2,000 square feet and featuring a private women’s only lounge. Following the success of the brand’s The Dubai Mall location which opened in 2018 and the Mall of the Emirates store opening in 2021, this marks the third store in the Middle East region and a significant expansion point for the brand. The design of the space will reflect Maria’s vision for the brand through its modern aesthetic and use of soft grey tones applied to travertine stone and custom glass. Leather and metallic accents will add warmth to the space, while matte finishes and thoughtfully considered lighting nuances will accentuate the jewelry collections. 

 

HYT announces major partnership with Brillantine Pictures

In 2022, HYT has entered into an original and unusual collaboration with the Swiss agency Brillantine Pictures to develop revolutionary projects for the presentation and visualization of its innovative timepieces. The visualization module designed by Brillantine Picture, with its exclusive and innovative 3D projection device, was very much noticed in Geneva during the unveiling of the new HYT Moon Runner watch. This spacecraft-like capsule, with its unique and innovative video mapping system, can be used to animate the timepiece, in particular to show its technical features such as an unprecedented visualization of the Moon in volume. But this equipment also makes it possible to go much further, by presenting the creative universe and inspirations linked to a contemporary timepiece.

 

Racquet Collaborates with Maurice de Mauriac on a Limited-Edition Tennis Wristwatch

Racquet debuts its first timepiece, the Rallymaster, a tennis-inspired wristwatch made in collaboration with Maurice de Mauriac. The Rallymaster pairs classic vintage details with modern tennis world cues. Its dusty pink colourway and multiple strap options celebrate tennis lifestyle on and off the court. The watch is limited edition. Designed by Carlton DeWoody, a creative best-known for interior design, the watch draws inspiration from uniquely graphic watch dials of the 60’s & 70’s. For this first-time partnership, Racquet and Maurice de Mauriac connected with DeWoody, whose passion for tennis and deep knowledge of vintage watches made him an ideal collaborator.

Maurice Lacroix presents AIKON #tide FIBA3x3

Maurice Lacroix is pleased to unveil three special edition watches that uphold the benefits of the recently launched AIKON #tide, combining them with the exciting world of 3x3, the global basketball format beloved by millions. Sharing the same attributes as other members of the AIKON family, these new models are formed of ocean-bound upcycled plastic, an undisclosed formula and glass fibre. The resultant composite material is twice as hard as standard plastic, five times more resistant and has a carbon footprint significantly less than the production of virgin PET. The bezel, case, case back, crown, end-piece and buckle are all made from this composite material. It takes 17 bottles to make one watch and its tailor made packaging which means 17 fewer bottles polluting the ocean.

The four models available this spring are not just flat, elegant automatic watches; they are also extravagant and a little idiosyncratic. These days, some would call them edgy. Red, blue, black and off white are the new, very crisp colors of these watches. They are coated using a technique whose effect is comparable to that of enamel: incoming light is not absorbed by the opaque surfaces but instead reflected, creating depth.
