Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref.6006G Ultra- Thin Graphic Elegance

The Ref.6006G Calatrava one of Patek Philippe’s debuts for Baselworld 2017 pays tribute to the Caliber 240 movement’s 40th anniversary. Notwithstanding the stringency of its graphic design, the dial has a subtle tongue – in-cheek eccentricity: the unorthodox position of the subsidiary seconds dial between 4 and 5 o’clock. The reason for this is a design peculiarity of the caliber 240PS movement. The new Calatrava Ref.6006G in white gold replaces the watches of the 6000 series launched in 2005.
Subtly reworked, it further enhances the elegance of it sleek geometric design vocabulary. The classic round case was enlarged by 2mm to 39mm, giving it extra prominence on the wrist. At the same time the larger diameter adds elegance to the case, highlighting its slender production specialists to pull out all the stops. The design kept the two – tone graphic concept the uncluttered markings with plain Arabic numerals as well as excellently readable analog date with a scale on the outer circumference of the dial. The subsidiary seconds dial in its asymmetric position between 4& 5oclock. Additionally, the date hand is now tipped with a red lacquered arrow that precisely points at the date numeral. The time window is framed by a broad, mirror polished bezel. The bridge side of the lavishly finished caliber 240PS C movement with polished chamfers parallel Geneva striping gold –filled engravings and the recessed 22k gold minirotor that displays an engraved Calatrava cross.

The Moonphase is read via the indicator set at 12 o’clock on the subdial, as the full moon and new moon rotate through the lunar cycle. The Cellini Moonphase is fitted on a brown alligator leather strap.

Blancpain Tribute to Fifty Fathoms MIL-SPEC

The Blancpain “Tribute to Fifty Fathoms MIL-SPEC” is dedicated to diving, established by the original 1953 Fifty Fathoms and later followed by the entire watch industry. The watch is fitted with Blancpain’s in-house automatic winding caliber 1151, comprising 210 components including two series-coupled mainspring barrels and offering a four-day power reserve. Nestled into its stainless steel 40mm case, the movement as well as its solid gold winding rotor with a NAC coating and Blancpain logo, are visible through the clear sapphire case back. The balance-spring is in silicon, a material that offers many advantages; its low density makes it lighter and thus more shock-resistant and it is impervious to magnetic fields. Its black dial features indexes in Super-LuminNova® and a water-tightness indicator recalling the designs of the 1950s MIL-SPEC 1. The unidirectional rotating bezel covered in scratch-resistant sapphire, a Blancpain innovation which first appeared in 2003 with the 50th Anniversary Fifty Fathoms, protects the luminescent indications underneath. This timepiece is water resistant to 300 meters. It is limited to 500 examples and is offered with a NATO strap, sail cloth strap, or steel bracelet with a secure.

Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer

The new Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer harbors an exceptionally refined hand-guilloché dial and an equally guilloché officer-type back cover that opens to reveal the ultra-thin L.U.C 96.01-L movement. The L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer epitomizes the elegance and fine craftsmanship of Chopard Haute Horlogerie. Attired in white gold, this elegant timepiece bearing both COSC and “Poinçon de Genève” certifications adorns the wrist with a blend of distinction and discretion. A single press on the crown-integrated pusher of the L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer is enough to open the hinged back cover, as a pleasing prelude to a fascinating discovery. This slender ‘shield’ barely changes the volume of the watch which remains a mere 7.7 mm thick, nor its feel on the wrist. It merely serves to conceal – inside the 18-carat white gold case with its vertical satin-brushed flanks – the ultra-slim L.U.C 96.01-L calibre, finished according to the highest standards of Chopard Manufacture.

Glashütte Original Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar

The new Glashütte Original Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar offers exceptional legibility, every detail has been honed to perfection by experienced artisans in the watchmaker's own dial manufactory. The Panorama Date at 4 o'clock, the weekday and month windows are presented, as in a passe-partout, in a softly curved frame. For the leap year one need only glance at a separate display beneath hour 12. It features a 42 mm diameter case, available in satin-polished stainless steel or red gold, and is water resistant to 50 meters. Dior Grand Bal Piece Unique Galaxie

Monsieur Dior was a very superstitious gentleman, wanting to believe in his fabulous destiny, in his lucky star. This fascination for stars and constellations has been the Creation Studio's source of inspiration for this series of exceptional pieces. In echo of a starlit sky in movement, all of the dial is covered in a transparent oscillating weight set with diamonds and gold inserts.

Kerbedanz introduces Black Sappheiros

Like an authentic alchemist, Kerbedanz combines traditional watchmaking artistry, avant-garde materials and mythology in giving rise to the Sappheiros Tourbillon Black Edition. The gold case and dial are clothed in a black DLC carbon coating: a first! While creating striking light effects against a stunning deep black background, this innovative material also boasts functional properties notably including peerless wear resistance enabling it to defy time. The latter is clothed in transparency in this model, magnified by the purity of sapphire highlighting the endless spinning of its tourbillon. Named “sappheiros” in Ancient Greek, sapphire symbolised immortality, a reminder of the inalterable radiance of this stone whose hardness is second only to that of diamonds. In giving its name to this new Kerbedanz creation, “sappheiros” sends a hint of eternity blowing over wrists with this 41-piece limited edition.

Voutilainen introduces Vingt-8 ISO

Voutilainen introduces a completely innovative display of the time based on System 1 and System 2 human behaviour, as studied by Nobel Prize-winner Daniel Kahneman. The Vingt-8 ISO breaks with System 1 behaviour, whereby time is read at a glance using a deeply entrenched "code", and instead elicits System 2 behaviour in which telling the time acquires a deeper, more intellectual dimension. This heightened awareness of time is translated by hour and minute hands which are superimposed on each full hour, and opposed at each half-hour. The angle between the two hands is always the same, whatever the time. The secret lies with the minutes disc that turns with the hour hand so that the minutes hand can mark the elapsed minutes.
