Graff Diamonds paid $7.5M to Cyber Hackers: Lawsuit
Graff paid more than $7 million in bitcoin to a Russian ransomware firm to stop the publication of client data, according to a lawsuit the jeweler filed against its insurer. The UK-based company suffered a cyberattack last year, when Conti encrypted and stole personal information from the luxury brand. Details of the incident became public after Graff sued Travelers, its insurance provider, in the High Court of Justice in London on June 13. Graff claims it was covered for such a hack, but Travelers has not paid anything, the lawsuit alleged. In addition to the ransom payment, Graff incurred costs of just over $1.5 million for professional services, such as legal and public-relations advice, according to the filing. In total, the jeweler is claiming damages of $9 million plus costs and interest. |

Louis Moinet presents MARS MISSION
This modern timepiece aims to combine the visionary talent of the inventor of the chronograph and high frequency with contemporary architectural work. The essential elements are outlined below. The dial pays tribute to the first detailed photos of Mars taken in 1965 by the first Mars flyby probe: Mariner 4. The engraving results from hand-crafted hammering creating pleasing contrasts on the surface of the planet. The finish features two light and dark tones resulting from a light black patina achieved after the dial was copper-plated. It has an opening between 8 o'clock and 12 o'clock, revealing each beat of its exclusive calibre including the escapement operating at a rate of 28,800 vibrations/hour, as well as the off-centre seconds hand. Everything is arranged to ensure that the eye loses nothing of intricate workings of this MARS MISSION watch. |

Breitling launches its new Superocean Collection
Breitling has launched a new Superocean that goes back to the Slow Motion’s simplified tool-watch philosophy. And while the collection has been revised to meet the needs of modern wearers (the seconds hand was, of course, a must), a keen eye will spot several design nods to the original. The collection was unveiled to media, retailers, and influencers at the Wheels & Waves surf-and motorcycle festival in Biarritz. The event followed a day of sea-themed activities with surprise visits from European surf and screen personalities. Present were surfers Andrew Cotton, Jérémy Florès, and Natxo Gonzalez, along with actors Guillaume Canet from France and Álvaro Morte from Spain. Available in four sizes (46, 44, 42, and 36 mm), the collection’s colorful dials are paired with three different case metals - steel, steel-gold, and bronze. |
