Gemfields’ final film explores July’s birthstone
Gemfields is proud to announce the release of the fourth and final instalment in its short film series devoted to coloured gemstones. Fittingly, this one is all about the ruby – the vibrant birthstone for the month of July. Representing passion, prosperity and protection – early warriors would even carry them into battle – rubies hold a special place in the hearts of many, their fiery red colour forever associated with the sultry days of summer. It’s hard to believe such dynamic gemstones lay dormant beneath the earth’s surface for 500 million years. The Ruby film also uses sculptured marble tableaus in 3D to set the evolution of rubies – from their origins deep beneath the soil of Mozambique to their present day popularity – into a historical framework.

Audemars Piguet introduces three new models of Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronographs 44mm
Following this collection’s tradition, these 2020 Royal Oak Offshore are ultra-bold, robust watches that will not fail to leave an impression. All three watches share the same base, meaning a 44mm case in brushed black ceramic with polished accents. All three models feature a sapphire crystal on top, a titanium caseback with see-through sapphire and a lateral module that protects the crown and integrates the chronograph pushers. Each model is differentiated by its contrasting accents. Two of the models rely on coloured ceramic for the bezel, the crown and the pushers, available either in blue or in green. Here the lateral pushpiece guards are titanium. The third model uses 18k pink gold on the bezel and the pushpiece guards, while the pushers and the crown are done in black ceramic.

Tudor launches Black Bay Fifty-Eight “Navy Blue”
Ever faithful to its long tradition of blue sports watches, TUDOR now offers a “Navy Blue” version of its flagship model, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight. The Black Bay Fifty-Eight “Navy Blue” gets its name from its colour, of course, but also from the year 1958, in which the first TUDOR divers’ watch waterproof to 200 metres (660 ft), reference 7924 or “Big Crown”, was presented. Among other aesthetic nods to this historic watch, this model offers a 39 mm diameter case in in keeping with the characteristic proportions of the 1950s. Ideal for slim wrists, people who like more compact watches and vintage enthusiasts, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight “Navy Blue” also carries on with the long TUDOR tradition of blue sports watches.

Richard Mille releases the all new RM 11-05 Automatic Chronograph Flyback GMT
The construction of the automatic movement gives pride of place to titanium. Its functions notably include a GMT display that can be simply adjusted thanks to a pushpiece at 9 o’clock, a 24-hour flyback chronograph, and an annual calendar. The added grey Cermet is adapted to the pure aerodynamic lines of the iconic case, which measures 50 x 42.70 mm with a total thickness of 16.15 mm. The Cermet owes its unique grey colour to the combination of a metallic zirconium matrix with high performance ceramic inserts. Its implementation required a degree of rigour commensurate with that needed to create the materials themselves. Heating and pressing together very different kinds of materials at a high temperature without altering their respective qualities was a challenge.

Laurent Ferrier presents Classic Origin Opaline
This latest timepiece from LAURENT FERRIER, the Classic Origin Opaline, is designed for those individuals who value sobriety and virtue. Created to mark the 10th anniversary of the company, this latest model is housed in a 40mm classic case and encompasses the same smooth curving lines as the inaugural model. However, in this instance, the case is formed of Grade 5 titanium, imbuing the watch with a youthful temperament. Consistent with the Genevan Maison's inclination for uncluttered aesthetics, the Classic Origin Opaline exhibits a pure appearance. Assegai-shaped hour and minute hands serenely float above a silvery-white opaline dial. The slate grey dial's hour track is marked with burgundy-coloured numerals which prove highly legible, add a soupçon of sportiness, but remain tastefully understated. A small snailed seconds display, featuring a baton-shaped hand is located above 6 o’clock. All three hands are formed of 18-carat white gold.
