The Grand Opening of Jewellery Arabia 2015

Jewellery Arabia 2015 showcased the finest and most prestigious collections of world class jewellery, watches and gems. His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa opened last week the show at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre. Organised by the Arabian Exhibition Management, the 24th edition attracted 600 exhibitors, representing the cream of luxurious world trademarks from 30 countries. A $2 million diamond-studded guitar was the glittering showpiece at the official opening of Jewellery Arabia 2015.

Cartier CEO Stanislas de Quercize resigns

Compagnie Financière Richemont recently announced that Stanislas de Quercize, CEO of Cartier, will step down for personal reasons, effective immediately. De Quercize has held the top position at Cartier since 2012 and has been with Richemont since 1990, serving in leadership positions with several brands. He will also resign from Richemont’s Group Management Committee but will remain as a Group executive, taking over the role of chairman of Richemont France. The resignation comes amid a report that de Quercize has health problems. Cyrille Vigneron, currently the president of LVMH Japan, will succeed de Quercize on Jan. 1, 2016. As CEO of Cartier, Vigneron will become a member of Richemont’s Group Management Committee. Thereafter, he will be nominated for election to Compagnie Financière Richemont’s Board of Directors in September 2016.

UAE economy to raise by 3% in 2015

The UAE economy, the second largest in the Arab world, is projected to grow by around three per cent in 2015, aided by relatively strong growth in the non-oil sector. Projections by the Central Bank showed earlier GDP would rise by 3.1 per cent in 2015 while the non-oil sector would growth by 3.5 per cent. It said GDP would grow this year despite weak oil prices, noting that crude prices plunged by nearly 51 per cent in the third quarter compared with the third quarter of 2014. In the second quarter, they dipped by 18 per cent over the same period of 2014. The report showed the deficit in the federal budget was slashed by around 26 per cent to Dh8.9 billion in the second quarter of this year from Dh12.1 billion in the first quarter.

Chopard is the Official Timing Partner of Porsche Motorsport team

For the second year, Chopard is the Official Timing Partner of Porsche Motorsport. The fifth consecutive victory, Porsche won the WEC constructor’s title of the World Endurance Championship 2015. After outstanding 1-2 victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and on all circuits since then, the two Porsche 919 Hybrid, the famous endurance race cars, also arrived in first two positions at checkered flag in Shanghai. The Porsche 919 Hybrid won the six-hour race in Shanghai in the hands of Timo Bernhard and Chopard ambassadors Brendon Hartley and Mark Webber.

Jaeger-LeCoultre organizes a photographic exhibition in New York

The Jaeger-LeCoultre organizes a photographic exhibition on November 16th in the New York boutique in the presence of actress Sarah Gadon. This shoot was done in NY by talented photographer Caitlin Cronenberg. Daughter of filmmaker David Cronenberg, Caitlin does a lot of behind the scenes film pictures and her work has been published in major newspapers and magazines.

Arnold & Son unveils Instrument Collection – Time Pyramid

Arnold & Son reveals a new reference of its iconic Time Pyramid featuring the hand-finished A&S1615 calibre treated in NAC grey, housed in a stainless steel case with translucent-grey coated sapphire case back. The movement A&S1615 seemingly floats between two sapphire crystals. The movement of the Time Pyramid is magnificently hand decorated with manually chamfered brides and high-polished edges, Côtes de Genève, circular satin-finished wheels and blued screws. Bvlgari presents the new Diva watch

The emblematic Diva motif, the finely gem set fan now serves as the strap lug and serves to connect the dainty circular case in  pink or white gold to the satin strap. The Faubourg watch launched in 2014 becomes an all leather-clad Manchette or cuff Watch. When teamed with the rose gold version, the cuff strap is crafted from havana, agate, red, black, ultraviolet, geranium or elephant grey alligator. When paired with steel, it opts for calf in a natural Barénia version or deeper shades of electric blue, iris, Orange or red. Whether in such tangy or more classic colours, the leather is fashioned all of a piece like an extension of the case so as to flow seamlessly around the wrist. The 6th edition of the charity auction took place on November 7th at La Réserve in Geneva in the presence of watch manufactures representatives, collectors and philanthropists, more than 300 people in the room, in addition to numerous bidders online and by phone. The 44 unique watches were sold under the hammer of watch expert Aurel Bacs.
