Visitors to the event can discover the new collections that were shown in April on the watchesandwonders.com digital platform and in Shanghai, early September.

Saudi Arabia keeps tourism targets for 2021

According to Tourism Minister, Ahmad Al Khateeb, Saudi Arabia is preparing for a quick rebound in tourism and hasn't revised its visitor targets for 2021 despite the coronavirus pandemic. As the government prepares to reopen its borders to foreign tourists in January, the kingdom is using its presidency of the Group-of-20 biggest economies to facilitate a resumption of global travel, said Al Khateeb. Tourism is an important part of Saudi Arabia’s plans to diversify the oil-dependent economy. This virus has devastated the industry globally, with the World Travel and Tourism Council predicting the loss of 100 million jobs.

Richard Mille launches RM 27-04 Tourbillon Rafael Nadal

The RM 27-04 balances a lightweight design–at 30 grams including the strap–with tremendous resistance. Its tourbillon calibre, which is suspended within the case, can resist accelerations of more than 12,000 g’s, a record for Richard Mille. The movement is entirely supported by a micro-blasted mesh just 855 square millimetres in surface, comprised of a single cable in braided steel measuring 0.27mm in diameter, and held in place by two tensioners in PVD-treated 5N gold. This construction is unprecedented in the world of watchmaking. It is unique in more ways than one, as it also marks the 10th anniversary of the partnership between Rafael Nadal and Richard Mille. This watch is a limited edition of 50 pieces.

Introducing the TUDOR Royal

Produced in Switzerland from a block of 316L stainless steel, one of the most robust in existence, the case of the TUDOR Royal models is waterproof in any situation and to a depth 100 metres (330 ft) below the surface of the ocean thanks to its screw-down winding crown and back. Although it is invisible, its movement, the epitome of Swiss expertise in micro-mechanics, is finely decorated and regulated according to the best chronometric standards of the watchmaking industry. Its dial and hands have been crafted in Switzerland by the most meticulous watchmaking professionals in the field, with applied hour markers with Swiss Super-LumiNova® luminescent material. And lastly, without fuss or noise, its “five-link” bracelet is distinguished by the quality of its design, manufacture and finish.

The Vanguard Crazy Hours by Franck Muller

The Vanguard Crazy Hours™ calls in for youthful and futuristic aesthetics. In its full diamond version, the distinctive shape of the Vanguard tastefully outlines the dial and applied Arabic numbers. An aesthetic that lives up to the eccentricity of the complication, with the iconic numbers of the Vanguard collection in pop colors such as orange, yellow, purple or blue. The colourful insert highlights the curve of the watch while the crown gives the final touch to the sporty elegance and robustness of the Vanguard.

Ralph Lauren introduces Polo Watch Collection

Ralph Lauren has introduced a new collection of watches with the brand’s iconic polo player reproduced in vivid detail on the dial. Sporty look, signature RL details, automatic Swiss movements and a wide variety of strap options – including cool Madras silk necktie material. The 42mm case has a height of 12.35mm and comes in either a stainless steel case with a polished finish or a matte black PVD-coated steel case. The fixed bezel is notched, the crown is engraved with the logo of the polo player and the case is water-resistant to 100 metres.

Claude Meylan presents Tortue Rainbow Orange

With the designation of Claude Meylan movement 165CM16, a new element has been introduced into the brand’s lineup. Subtly inserted between base plate and bridges, this innovative new addition blends with the hands and sets the inspirational tone associated with the colour orange.  Each bridge is carefully carved and sculpted before being fully decorated and finished. The result is an assembly of variously shaped elements which are expertly brought together to form a harmonious whole. The completed movement sets the stage for an intriguing play of transparent light, brought to new dimensions through the character of colour.
