Jewellery Arabia 2012 - A Dazzling Date for your Diary

From 16 - 20 October the halls of the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre will glitter with the finest gems and tick with luxury timepieces as companies from across the globe converge for the ultimate jewellery and watch industry event in the Middle East. Held under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, over 550 exhibitors from 30 nations are set to exhibit at Jewellery Arabia 2012 and showcase their precious wares. Spread across 16,500 square metres, they will unveil an exquisite host of collections during this 5 day spectacular; ranging from incredible finished jewellery to luxury timepieces and precious stones of every size, shape and cut.

The 8th Middle East Premier Awards for Watches, Jewellery and Pens

Further highlighting the importance of Jewellery Arabia to the Middle East jewellery and watch industry, for the eighth successive year, the Middle East Premier Awards for Watches, Jewellery and Pens will be held on the sidelines of the exhibition at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Bahrain on 16 October. Hosted by MPP ME, publishers of the industry magazine title Arabian Watches and Jewellery (AWJ), the Awards are the culmination of an online public voting system and the analysis of an elite committee comprising of watch, jewellery and pen experts. The Awards ceremony will be a star-studded event with the expected presence of specially invited dignitaries and senior professionals representing the international and regional watch, jewellery and pen industries.

Harry Winston Inc into a financing agreement facility

Harry Winston Inc., has reached a financing agreement over its revolving credit facility by entering into a new secured five year credit agreement for $260 million with a consortium of banks speared by Standard Chartered Bank. The new credit facility has a maturity date of August 30, 2017.

Longines FEI World Endurance Championships at Euston Park

Longines was the official timekeeper of the Longines FEI World Endurance Championships – a sight to behold with over 153 riders from 38 nations taking part. Held across 160km of the land in the beautiful grounds of the Euston Estate, the seat of the Duke and Duchess of Grafton, and several local landowners. The individual winner of the Longines FEI Endurance Championships 2012 was His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on his horse Madji du Pont who completed the event in 7hr00min45sec with the UAE team winning gold followed by France and Oman respectively.

Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards Finalists 2012

Cartier, in the presence of Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, who heads the jury for the Middle East and North Africa, and Mr. Louis Ferla, Regional Director of Cartier Middle East, India and Africa, announced the finalists of the 2012 Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards . The 18 finalists – 17 finalists and a team of two co-finalists – were selected among over 1,000 applications from around the world, out of which 3 finalists were selected from the MENA (Middle East & North Africa Region). The Laureates will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on October 11, 2012, at the Annual Global Meeting of the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society, in Deauville, France .

BOVET has recently signed a long-term collaboration agreement with DKSH, the leading Market Expansion Services provider with a focus on Asia for enhancing the position of BOVET timepieces in Asian markets. DKSH will assume marketing, sales and after-sales services throughout Asia, while also taking a strategic shareholding in BOVET and both its manufacturing facilities (DIMIER), thereby allowing for cooperation in the production and supply of watch components.

Bremont Watch Company had the honour of winning ‘Luxury Watch Brand of the Year’ at the 2012 UK Jewellery Awards which took place on 12th July 2012 at the Grosvenor House Hotel. On 23^rd of July, on Garda Lake the three racing days have been intense for the Audi-Eberhard Melges 32. Damas collaborates with GIA to offer specialized training on ‘identification of synthetic diamonds’

Damas has recently collaborated with the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) to conduct a specialized training program on the ‘identification of natural and synthetic diamonds’.  The two-day program for selected Damas staff in the UAE provided training on the methods of identifying natural from synthetic gemstones, including stones that are made using new sophisticated technologies. The advanced training program builds on the existing knowledge base of the employees to make them highly trained in this subject.
