After the lawsuit filed in April 2010, a federal judge has awarded Richemont North America a $37.4 million default judgment in its case against a jewelry manufacturer that allegedly made and sold counterfeit Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry. Richemont filed a lawsuit charging Concept Designs Unlimited Inc. (CDU) with trademark infringement, dilution and tarnishment, counterfeiting, unfair competition and false advertising, court papers filed in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey show. According to court documents, CDU never answered or responded to the complaint. The judge granted a motion for default judgment on Sept. 1.
