Jewellery worth an estimated up to 10.0 million Euros (USD $ 14.0 million) was stolen in a holdup by a lone, armed thief from French jeweller House of Chopards boutique in Paris prestigious Place Vendome, according to police, reports AFP. The theft occurred at around 13.00 GMT on Saturday, 30 May 2009, at the jewellers premises near the Ritz Hotel. Dressed in a suit, the gunman entered the chic boutique, pulled out a gun and forced staff to hand over some 15 pieces of jewellery, after which he decamped with the loot. No arrests were immediately made and investigations are ongoing.
