A Patek Philippe platinum split seconds chronograph sold for a whopping USD $ 297,468 at a recent Sothebys auction in Geneva. In the same auction, a historically important watch (dated circa 1880) probably made for King Ludwig II of Bavaria sold for USD $ 199,000, almost five times its pre-estimate. Total proceeds from that evenings auction of an assortment of Cartier, Rolex and other Patek Philippe watches netted over USD $ 3.0 million.
