BaselWorld opening press conference revealed strong export figures for 2014

According to Mr. Francois Thiebaud President of the Swiss Exhibitor’s committee the export figures of the Swiss watch industry has revealed a +6.8 percentage compared with the same period of 2013. The Swiss watch exports reached SF 1.6 billion and SF 1.7 billion in January and February respectively. These figures demonstrate a good start of this year for the Swiss watch industry. The mood is very positive at BaselWorld this year and all exhibitors are set to reveal their novelties to the press and their retailers during the coming week. In 2013 the Swiss watch exports reaches SF 21.8 billion compared to SF 21.4 billion in 2012. Asia remains the main market for the Swiss watch exports with 53% while Europe comes in second with 31%, Americas 14% with the remaining 2% are shared equally between Africa and Oceania.
