THE ULTIMATE JEWELLERY AND WATCH SHOWCASE IN THE MIDDLE EAST OPENS

Jewellery Arabia 2014 will be officially inaugurated under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre on Tuesday 18 November 2014.

The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Chairman of Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority, Dr. Hassan Abdulla Fakhro praised His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain for his continued patronage for Jewellery Arabia since its inception in 1992 and support to the exhibition industry which contributed largely in making Bahrain a key and strategic location for the exhibitions sector. He stated that Jewellery Arabia represents the flagship of exhibitions in Bahrain and is a leading jewellery and watches exhibition in the Middle East both in terms of quality, size and global participation from around the world.

The 23rd exhibition in this prestigious annual series runs until Saturday 22 November 2014 and is set to welcome over 600 companies from 30 nations. On sale will be the largest display of finished jewellery, luxury timepieces, precious stones, antiques and objets d’art in the Middle East.

The five-day show will feature high-end international brands, independent designers, retailers and manufacturers from across the globe.

The show is seen as an essential buying event for private collectors and the trade. Jewellery Education Seminars

To assist visitors in making informed buying choices, the world’s foremost authority on gemmology, the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) will conduct daily seminars at Jewellery Arabia 2014.

Free to attend and open to all, experienced GIA instructors will provide visitors with information on different facets of gems and jewellery. Topics include diamonds, coloured stones, pearls, how to read GIA grading reports and tips when purchasing jewellery. 

The 10th Middle East Jewellery, Pen and Young Arab Designers Awards

The exhibition will be preceded tonight, by the 10th successive year, with the Middle East Premier Awards for Jewellery, Pen and Young Arab Designers Awards held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Bahrain.

Hosted by MPP ME, publishers of the industry magazine title “Arabian Watches and Jewellery” (AWJ), the Awards are the culmination of an online public voting system and the analysis of an elite committee comprising jewellery and pen experts.

This year’s Award ceremony is sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank Bahrain and Paris Gallery. The nominated award entries will be adjudicated by a 16-member committee comprising of independent veteran industry officials, observers, designers, aficionados and connoisseurs of jewellery and pens. The committee has been constituted by MPP-ME, Middle East representatives of Arabian Watches & Jewellery magazines.

“We are delighted that the Middle East Premier Awards is taking place alongside Jewellery Arabia 2014 once again. It draws the best and most representative talent from the industry, and over the years has become known as the ‘Industry Oscars’,” said Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of Arabian Exhibition Management and organiser of Jewellery Arabia 2014.
“The Awards also serve as motivation and recognition of young and upcoming jewellery designers from around the region. This year’s edition will recognize excellence in design and conceptualization in 10 different categories of jewellery and pens apart from three individual awards for outstanding Young Arab Designers,” he added.

The nomination and selections are done through a clear and transparent process. Companies and brands have nominated their entries for the various categories through the dedicated website.
The award categories are: 
• Jewellery: Best High-End Jewellery Collection; Best Diamond-Studded Necklace; Most Colourful Jewellery Set; Best Fashionable Jewellery; Best Eastern Design Jewellery Piece.
• Pens and Fine Writing Instruments: Best Arts & Craftsmanship; Best Theme Pen; Best Modern & Contemporary; Best Diamond Pen Collection; Best Historical Icon
• Young Arab Designers: Best Innovative Design; Best Oriental Design; Best Fashionable Design
