Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie and Baselworld will coordinate their dates starting 2020. Both exhibitions are moved to April; the SIHH will be held from 26 to 29 April in Geneva, followed immediately by Baselworld from the 30th of April to 5 May in Basel. The new dates will coincide with the Ramadan holy month in the region. The calendars have been synchronised until 2024.
This arrangement means that the watch industry professionals will no longer need to travel twice to Switzerland in a short period of time.
Fabienne Lupo, President and Managing Director of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, which organises SIHH, stated: “Resynching with Baselworld will further confirm Switzerland as the foremost destination for watchmaking in the world. This is something we welcome wholeheartedly, as it is in the interests of all.”
Michel Loris-Melikoff, Managing Director of Baselworld said: “This partnership between the two most prominent exhibitions in the industry represents a major breakthrough for the future.”
