French Fashion House Christian Dior Jewellery held an exclusive media preview of its celebrated Milly Carnivora Collection created by the legendary Parisian designer Victoire de Castellane, credited with setting up Dior’s haute joaillerie department in January 1998. The collections on display recently at the Burj Al Arab portrayed exquisite rings, earrings, necklaces and colliers in a riot of colours depicting exotic flowers. The jewellery, to be launched in November 2008, was composed of white & yellow gold, diamonds, tourmaline, rubellite amethysts, garnets, sapphires and lacquer.
“The Milly Carnivora collection is Dior’s showpiece for the Belladone Island, an imaginary island where the extraordinary Belladonna flower blossoms & omnivorous butterflies abound. Designer Victoire de Castellane’s amazing effects using lacquer with traditional jewellery materials such as gold and precious stones is remarkable,” noted Josette Awwad, Communications & Marketing Director, ME for Christian Dior, as she reviewed the collections with this visiting correspondent.
