Thailand International Jewellery Awards (TIJA) to be launched at 43rd BGJF

The Thai Gems & Jewelery Traders Association (TGJTA), organizers of the Bangkok Gems & Jewellery Fair (BGJF) series has announced that the institution of the Thailand International Jewellery Awards (TIJA), the brainchild of Khun Somchai Phornchindarak, CEO, BGJF, that will debut at the 43rd Edition of the BGJF to be held from 25 February to 1 March 2009. “We are delighted to declare the creation of the Thailand International Jewellery Awards (TIJA) which will provide an excellent creative platform for budding and established designers and which will considerably boost the Kingdom’s stature as a leading jewellery design centre,” asserted Khun Somchai as he unveiled this project at the recent 42nd BGJF.

Two distinct design categories have been identified—Day Time, for day time dress or normal outgoing. The other class is Executive, for evening gowns. Only one design must be submitted and a designer can submit no more than two designs, one for each category. The entries will be whittled down to only 60 in the semifinal stage—30 for each category. The designs will be judged by an expert, independent, professional panel representing local and international industry organizations. The winners will be feted at an awards Ceremony at the 43rd BGJF and can hope to win exciting prizes in cash and kind.
