A high-level Thai Government delegation including senior officials from the Thai Gem & Jewellery Traders Association (TGJTA), will visit the mineral-rich South-Western African country of Namibia in June 2008 to explore the possibility of new supply of diamonds and gemstones to the South-East Asian Kingdom.

“Direct sourcing from Namibia will help us ensure new raw material supplies, reduce production costs and thus increase our competitiveness in the global market,” CEO of the prestigious Bangkok Gems & Jewellery Fair (BGJF) series, Khun Somchai Phornchindarak pointed out. During the Namibia visit, the TGJTA is expected to invite members of the Namibian jewel industry to attend the upcoming 42nd BJGF to be staged in the Thai capital from 11 to 15 September 2008 to see for themselves the scope and magnitude of the Thai jewel and gemstone industry.
