Swiss-based luxury watch, jewellery, and accessories major Chopard has inaugurated its biggest store in the Gulf emirate of Kuwait.
Located in the Mall Prestige (The Avenue), the flagship store emblems Chopard’s new boutique design concept.
Chopard’s largest outlet in the world is spread over 460 square metres and built on two floors and it’s operated by Chopard’s official distributor in Kuwait Trafalgar.
Designed by the famous French architect Thierry W. Despont, the Swiss luxury watchmaker’s unique boutique design concept was introduced to the world in 2007 and the first flagship store displaying this unique concept was opened on Madison Avenue.
The Kuwaiti outlet boasts three lounges where guests will make themselves comfortable to savour the beauty of the pieces shining under the warm lighting.
Through the dedicated Watch area, men will be able to sit back and relax in the Gentlemen’s retreat with fine cigar and admire the grand complications of the L.U.C collection. While on the other hand, the High Jewellery dedicated room will showcase spectacular and unique Chopard’s creations.
Other highlights of the unique boutique include double-height foyer, chandelier, mirrored staircase, cigar-room among others.
Dozens of personnel from Chopard, Trafalgar and other associate companies were involved in the design, construction and management of the project which brought numerous novel challenges for the team. But thanks to the team’s professionalism, it overcame challenges to bring the essence of the brand in the boutique.
“Total space was a little over 460 square metres. However, we had to sacrifice about 60 square metres in order to have the massive double-height foyer. The remaining 60 sqm is just empty air,” said Wael Shorbaji General Manager of Trafalgar General Trading Company.
“It would have been easier to have a one-floor store. But it was imperative that we find a location that can showcase the importance of the brand. Building the store on two levels probably delayed the opening by about 4-5 months, increased the cost by about 25 per cent, and gave us many sleepless nights. However, the result is just fantastic.”
In one section, men will be able to sit back and relax enjoying fine cigar and admire the grand complications of the L.U.C collection. Last but not least, the High Jewellery room will showcase spectacular and unique creations.
Globally, the Swiss luxury watch, jewellery and accessories major operate 150 boutiques worldwide. An average Chopard boutique size is approximately 100 square metres. The smallest boutique operated by the Swiss firm is 20 sqm on Queen Marry II. While the Kuwait-based boutique would world’s biggest, spread over 460 square metres.
About Chopard:
Chopard is a Swiss-based luxury watch, jewellery, and Accessories Company founded in 1860 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard at the age of 24. Chopard initially concentrated on developing precise pocket watches and chronometers based upon innovative ideas. Chopard is regarded as a manufacture, in other words their watches and movements are mostly made in-house rather than using the base movements (ebauches) of other manufacturers. After modest beginnings, the company experienced a decline that lasted until 1963, when it was bought up by Karl Scheufele III.
The Scheufele family, owner of a jewellery and watchmaking manufacturing company in Pforzheim brought their knowledge and talents to Chopard. Under new owners, Chopard established itself in the middle of the 20th century as a benchmark in the field of precision luxury watches and jewellery.
