Louis Vuitton is set to transfer its watchmaking activities from La Chaux de Fonds to Meyrin in Geneva, the company has confirmed. Around fifty workers are expected to move from the company's existing plant further round the lake in Chaux de Fonds to new premises in Meyrin – a 3500 metre square commercial property which will undergo a total overhaul, costing between 15 and 25 million francs. The new Geneva site will also welcome twenty employees from La Fabrique du Temps. The new manufactory in Meyrin will be operational from July 2013. The tab for this new watchmaking gem is being picked up by Louis Vuitton's French owner, LVMH.
