Title Sponsor and Official Timekeeper Omega recently partnered, once more, with the Dubai Equestrian Club to co-host the FEI CEI *** 160 km, six phase, HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Endurance Cup 2009 Races, organized at the Dubai International Endurance City in Seih Assalam on the outskirts of the city.

“Endurance horse racing is a sport that demands perseverance, dedication and a great deal of understanding between the horse and rider,” said Raynald Aeschlimann, Vice President, Omega. Omega’s 160-year old impressive track record of professional watchmaking and over a century of sponsoring the world’s most renowned sporting events, from the Olympics to the America’s Cup, makes it the perfect partner for the race.

The grueling, exceedingly challenging races attracted a strong field of accomplished riders headed by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, including 83 from overseas. Patron HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum personally attended the second edition of the 2009 Endurance Cup Races.

Ali Khalfan Al Jahouri, trainer-cum-rider from Abu Dhabi’s Al Wathba Stables riding nine-year old gelding EO Jaras, won the prestigious Cup. The winner was presented the impressive Cup and a premium rose-gold Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow boasting the latest advances in watch technology by the brand by the visiting Bienne-Switzerland-based Omega Area Sales Manager, Talal El Chichakli, in the presence of Saeed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman, Emirates Racing Association and Ali Moosa Al Khamiri, General Manager, Dubai Equestrian Club.
