Khun Somchai Phornchindarak, Vice President, the Thai Gems & Jewellery Traders Association (TGJTA), hosts and organizers of the bi-annual Bangkok Gems & Jewellery Fair series, has initiated the concept of Ploi Thai for the Kingdoms growing gems and jewellery industry. The idea is that Ploi Thai, supported by the Government, must symbolize the best that the Thai gems and jewellery trade can offer. Every jewel bearing the Ploi Thai trademark must be manufactured in Thailand and confirm with the highest standards of the Kingdoms artistry and craftsmanship. Ploi Thai was launched at the recently concluded 44th Bangkok Gems and Jewellery Fair held from 15 to 19 September 2009 in the countrys capital.
