Omega celebrates title sponsorship of the Omega Mission Hills World Golf Cup at the Beijing Olympics

Omega celebrated its title sponsorship of the Omega Mission Hills World Golf Cup at an ceremony at its pavilion on the Olympic Green in Beijing on 16 August 2008. The omega President, Stephen Urquhart was joined on stage by two of China’s most successful professional golfers, Zhang Lian-Wei and Li Chao and by Chu Tenniel, Executive Director, of the Mission Hills Gold Club. Omega signed a 12-year contract in 2007 ensuring that the World Cup will be played at this venue until at least 2018. “Although golf is not yet an Olympic event, it is increasingly becoming a world sport and Omega is proud that our title sponsorship of the World Cup is helping to focus attention on these teams from every golfing continent,” said Urquhart, speaking on this occasion.
